The Birds and the Bees...
Champagne and Truffles!

Please join us at PHD Gallery,
Sunday, April 11, 2010 from 1-3 PM
for an informal Q & A with artists

Jeff Kapfer & Karen Woodward

See the exhibit and meet the artists. Champagne and truffles will be served!

The Birds and the Bees features brightly colored and tightly composed bird paintings by Jeff Kapfer surrounded by dozens of 1-2 inch high glass bees by artist Karen Woodward. The interspersed bodies of work create a comical and playful dialogue and a humorous fantasy environment. In addition, Woodward's more complex narrative works, whose properties utilize humor to make social commentary, are featured in PHD's Portfolio Gallery.

Artist Philip Hitchcock
Creates Bust of Dr. Richard A. Chaifetz

Bust now on Permanent Display at Chaifetz Arena.

September, 2009 - On behalf of Saint Louis University, artist Philip Hitchcock has completed the bust of Dr. Richard A. Chaifetz now on permanent display at the Chaifetz Arena. The portrait bust is created from facial impressions taken of Dr. Chaifetz by Hitchcock in Chicago last year.

Chaifetz Arena is named in honor of University alumnus Dr. Richard A. Chaifetz (SHAY-fetz) who made a $12 million naming gift to Saint Louis University. Chaifetz, a 1975 graduate of Saint Louis University, is a licensed neuropsychologist and is founder, chairman and CEO of Chicago-based ComPsych Corporation, the world's largest provider of employee assistance programs. This sculpture is Hitchcock's second commission for Saint Louis University. In 2007, the artist was retained to create "Christ Embracing the Cross," a life size figure that is now part of the permanent collection at Saint Louis University Museum of Art.

The Chaifetz Arena is located at #1 South Compton Ave, St. Louis, MO.
